Robina Crusoe and Her Lonely Island Home
by Elizabeth Whitaker

From Girls' Own Paper - 1882-1883

This serialization is more reminiscent of Swiss Family Robinson than Robinson Crusoe (of whom our Victorian heroine claims to be a descendant). Derivative, yes, but still a treat! (Be sure to see the article in the History section on a "real" female Robinson Crusoe -- a story that will be familiar to anyone who has read Island of the Blue Dolphins.)
